Birthdaycake for a friend from the barn. I made her three horses and her dog into marzipan figures and that´s how the cake ended up looking like. She loved it!
Dinothemed Birthdaycake for my little Timoboy :) I babysit him when he was 6 months old (to get some experience for my Au pair year), now he is turning six already!! Like wow.. this is insane!
I made this springy flower cake for a friend, who had her last day in school and the class wanted to have a big final breakfast with the teachers and asked me to make the cake for it. I went to that school as well and graduated five years ago (oh god I´m old!!) and all the teachers were thrilled to get that cake! :)
I´m not exactly sure if it is awesome or just insanely pathetic to make your own birthday cake but I really wanted to have a wonderful cake myself instead of just making them for others. So here we go. Happy birthday to myself ;)
I had a polka dot party with my family and made the cake, my first cake pops (they were a huge hit!!), Cupcakes and Peanutbuttercookies :)
I met up last weekend with two of my very awesome friends I met back in 2008 in Seattle, being an Au pair and spending the best year of my life with them. We didn´t see each other since forever and I felt the need to celebrate our reunion with a cake. Since Taylor Swifts songs were our best Roadtripmusic and we went to her concert in Oberhausen in May 2011 together (and got Tpasses ;) I wanted it to be something Taylor. So I decided to make caky Taylor-heart-hands and write the lyrics of All too well underneath because we are insanely in love with this song. And it was a very perfect weekend :)
My bestest best friend, my 5-year-old niece and I made Cookiemonster Cupcakes! My niece asked me again and again when we could bake together again, telling me that she´s a Cakeprincess as well. So we got together (after I had a 12hour-shift at my bakery already) and made those lovely Cupcakes. It was a wonderful day!! Emily usually can´t sit still for long and just do one thing, but has to jump around and everything. This day she was totally focused on those Cupcakes for hours!! Being so proud of herself, mixing, baking, decorating. We just made normal Cookiemonsters and special ones. Like I made this handsome cowboy and his polkadot girl. Because.
Lucky you when you have an auntie who is a pastry chef!! I love my liitle niece and she loves baking with me and had all these awesome ideas for her birthday cake this year. I didn´t have too much time the week before her actual birthday so she got the snowflakecake. Then she had another party with all her friends a few weeks later and was asking for something “with a pink pony and A LOT of glitter!!” and her little eyes were sparkling. So I made her the pink Topsy Turvy cake (because I love Topsy Turvy) and added glitter and a pony and she loved it :)
I made Slutty Brownies last saturday, just because of the name actually. It was one of those days.. Too much Taylor´s “All too well”, too much sitting around and thinking “What if´s”. My bestie invited me over to have a “HIMYM”-marathon on the couch and I dragged myself into the kitchen, wanting to bring something sweet. What can I say? Baking always makes me feel better. And everything was okay for the moment with May on the couch, eating freshly bakes Brownies, watching Barney and Ted (fortunately no story about this cakegirl coming back to him to NY, because.) and just being together. So I highly recommend making Slutty Brownies (Chocolatechip cookie base, Oreos and Brownie) whenever you´re in a bad mood.
Guys, guys!!! This is big! I might have the opportunity to work in Florida in a huge country club as a pastry chef once I finished my german pastry school in August. This would be the fucking best thing ever!! I need to get out of here and in order to figure out what I really want as far away as possible. I applied in the best hotel in Switzerland, but their patisserie is full, so I was kinda bummed. But this would be even better!!! I just sent my American CV and a few pictures of the cakes I made so far. Oh GOD, I´m getting so excited!! Please keep your fingers crossed for me ya´ll!!
I know these pictures are not exactly perfect, but oh well..
We had this project in our third year of pastry school where we had to plan and organize and figure out everthing by ourselves and since my classmates and I were tired of the same old selling boring cakestuff in school so we organized a HUGE Cupcake shop in the busiest mall downtown. We made 1500 Cupcakes (chocolate, vanilla, vanilla with chocochips, blueberry) and 4 different kind of buttercreams and we had fruit and chocolate sauces and like a ton of different stuff to put on top. We premade a few Cupcakes for busy people on the go but mostly we made them customized for everysingle one, however they wanted it. It was a superlong day, we started at 7 in the morning and were done with the clean up at like 9 pm. But it was so much fun! Getting to actually interact with the customers (vs. to just baking and decorating where nobody can see you) and seeing people (especially young) had a little happy freak out when they saw our Cupcakes! :) Plus we made Marzipan easter bunnies with Customers kids. Such a great day! I never want to do anything else :) Plus we made it into the Newspaper ;)
